Welcome to Blackbox Art Studio (“we,” “our,” or “us”). By accessing our website, submitting a booking request, paying a deposit, or receiving services at our studio, you agree to the following Terms & Conditions.

1. Services

We provide professional tattoo and piercing services. All procedures are performed by trained and licensed artists.

We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone for reasons including safety, inappropriate behavior, intoxication, or violation of studio rules.

2. Eligibility (Age Requirements)

To comply with New Jersey state law:

  • You must be 18 years or older to receive a tattoo, unless you are a minor between 16–17 years old and have written consent from your parent or legal guardian.

  • A parent or legal guardian must be physically present at the studio during the appointment to sign consent forms.

  • Both the minor and the parent/legal guardian must present a valid government-issued photo ID.

  • No tattooing is allowed under age 16, even with parental consent.

  • Piercing age requirements vary depending on the placement and will also require parental consent for minors.

Failure to provide proper identification will result in cancellation of the appointment and loss of deposit.

3. Health & Safety

Clients must disclose:

  • Allergies

  • Skin conditions

  • Medical issues

  • Recent surgeries

  • Use of blood thinners

We follow strict hygiene and sterilization standards.

Clients who appear ill, intoxicated, or impaired may be refused service.

4. Appointment Changes

Appointments must follow our Booking Policy and Cancellation Policy.

Failure to follow these policies may result in loss of deposit.

5. Artwork & Intellectual Property

Tattoo designs created by our artists:

  • Remain the intellectual property of the artist

  • Cannot be duplicated, altered, or taken to another studio

  • May be used for portfolio, social media, and promotional purposes

    unless you request otherwise in writing prior to your appointment

Reference images provided by the client are for inspiration only.

6. Right to Refuse Service

We may decline services involving:

  • Offensive, hateful, or gang-related imagery

  • Unsafe placements

  • Unrealistic expectations

  • Requests outside the artist’s specialty

7. No Guarantees

Healing results vary depending on skin type, lifestyle, aftercare, and placement.

We do not guarantee:

  • Color longevity

  • Perfect line retention

  • Tattoo aging

  • Results affected by improper aftercare

Clients are responsible for following aftercare instructions.

8. Liability

By receiving a tattoo or piercing, you acknowledge the risks, including:

  • Infection

  • Allergic reactions

  • Scarring

  • Pain

  • Swelling

  • Complications from pre-existing conditions

Blackbox Art Studio and its artists are not liable for complications resulting from failure to follow professional aftercare instructions.

9. Payments

  • Deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable.

  • Remaining balance is due at the time of service.

  • Prices may vary depending on size, style, design complexity, and artist demand.
